At Shell's fuel stations in Küçükpiyale, Cendere, and Başakşehir, an infrastructure conversion was carried out for high-capacity DC charging units. Power capacity upgrades, cable routing, and on-site installation were delivered turnkey by Soctek.
Project Scope and Requirements
Converting fuel stations into EV charging infrastructure requires integrating a new, high-capacity electrical load into the system while preserving the existing site layout -- fuel pumps, underground infrastructure, and vehicle traffic. At Shell's stations in Küçükpiyale, Cendere, and Başakşehir, the goal was to bring the infrastructure needed for high-capacity DC charging units online without disturbing the existing site layout.
Technical Solution Implemented
At each station, the existing electrical connection was first assessed for its ability to support the high-capacity DC charging load, with power-capacity increases carried out where needed. Cable routing was planned to match each station's site layout, and the on-site installation was completed turnkey.
Results and Benefits
Through this conversion, all three Shell stations can now offer electric vehicle users high-capacity charging alongside their traditional fuel service. The project is a concrete example of how the e-mobility transition in the fuel retail sector can be implemented in the field.
